The European Commission said they recommended to the Council to open negotiations on a new partnership with the United Kingdom, that is based on the existing guidelines and conclusions of the European Council, as well as the political declaration agreed between the EU and the United Kingdom in October 2019. year.

The recommendation of the EU executive includes a comprehensive proposal for negotiating guidelines, defining the scope and conditions of the future partnership foreseen by the European Union with the United Kingdom.

These Directives cover all areas of interest negotiations, including trade and economic cooperation, law enforcement and judicial cooperation in criminal areas, foreign policy, security and defense, participation in Union programs and other thematic areas of cooperation.
